Dawn Patrol

motorcycle club

A motorcycle club in existence since the FDR administration

Dawn Patrol Motorcycle Club was established in 1937 by a handful of guys who rode together. Their goal was to preserve and strengthen friendship among motorcyclists, encourage members to engage in safe motorcycle recreation and educate members and the public in motorcycle safety. They wanted to increase interest in motorcycling and connected activities.

Today, we try to carry on their tradition. We sponsor two motorcycle runs each year, one on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday) and one on the Labor Day weekend (also Sunday). All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome at our events.

The Dawn Patrol Motorcycle club has been a member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) since it was founded, winning several awards for its work and participation in the AMA. Our club has always been a family oriented club, a place where you feel comfortable bringing your spouse or children. In 2019, the American Motorcyclist Association nominated Dawn Patrol for the Recreational Road Riding Organizer of the Year.

We have an "open-door policy" and are always glad to have guests come to our meetings. New members are always welcome. If you are not interested in joining a club, you would still be welcome to join us on rides or trips. After you get to know us, you might change your mind.

We start our runs at a designated location, usually at the fire station nearby, travel through the New Jersey countryside, and end up at our clubhouse in Bradley Gardens. At the end of the holiday runs, all who attend will be able to sit in the shade of an old oak tree and chow down on some of the best food you will get at any run. If the old oak tree isn't your thing, you can sit down on one of the many picnic benches in a shaded part of our of our multi-acre grove. You can spend the afternoon browsing the vendors selling their wares, where you can buy anything from rings to decals to patches to pin striping for your bike.

The day continues with music, 50/50 and the drawing of the many door prizes. The scenery of the ride and the food at the end of the run make for an enjoyable motorcycling day.

Members go on several club trips each year. Some are day trips, and some include one or more overnight stays, to places such as Lake George, NY, Carlisle, PA and various other locations in the tri-state area.

We are also active in the community, by donating to, or attending local charity/fund raising events, both motorcycle and non-motorcycle orientated. Some of those include the Kelsey Charity Run, Bridgewater PBA Local 174, Somersert County Assoc Chiefs of Police, Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Department, AMA District II events at the Eagles, Somerset Eagles Aerie 2137, Alzheimers Assoc, Somerset County Food Bank and Hilleborough/Manville Elks Lodge 1068, Branchburg Rotary Club are just a few.

If you would like to get in touch or be added to our mailing list, just contact us. We invite you to come visit our organization at our clubhouse on Friday night at 8:00PM during one of our meetings or a Friday night social (last Friday of the month at 7:30PM). We look forward to seeing you!
